HOUSING RULES
The following is a list of the rules and regulations valid throughout all family and residence living situations in the ICS housing program:
- Each student is given a copy of the house keys. Any student who is responsible for the loss of keys is equally responsible for replacing them immediately. In addition, if the door lock must be changed as a direct result of the loss of keys the student is expected to cover this cost, as well.
- Although there is no established curfew in any of the ICS-designated housing students are reminded to follow common rules of courtesy when returning home late at night and make as little noise as possible so that others will not be bothered.
- If a student is to skip or arrive late to a meal it is considered proper to let the housemother know in advance.
- The consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden in student rooms.
- Showers must not exceed 15 minutes in duration, at maximum.
- Students must never use the home telephone without express permission. Outgoing calls should be limited to those made to one's family upon in the U.S., either by way of collect call or through an international calling card.
- Under no circumstances may a student invite friends to spend the night at his or her place of residence. Sneaking a friend over for the night is cause for being expelled from the home and losing one's housing deposit. If a student wishes to have a friend over during the day, he/she must ask permission from the family. One must remember, however, that Spaniards generally do their entertaining outside the home.
- Any student who has serious unresolvable conflicts with his or her housing situation may move to different housing during the semester. It is always best, however, to speak with the ICS Housing Director before reaching this point so that she may do everything possible to help resolve the problem with the home.
- ICS students are not permitted to live in apartments on their own. In order to participate in the ICS Semester-Abroad program all students must reside in housing where we are guaranteed that they are tended to correctly.
